We are conveniently located between Greenville and Rockwood, Maine where you can find numerous outdoor activities! Bird and wildlife viewing are fast becoming a favorite way to enjoy the area and beauty of the Moosehead Lake Region!

Hiking

Hiking opportunities abound in the surrounding mountains of the Moosehead Lake Region. From the easy walk into the historical crash site of a B-52 bomber to the more challenging hike all the way to the top of Big Spencer mountain at an elevation of 3,230 feet, there are options for every level of ambition. Be sure to bring your camera as the chances of seeing wildlife and catching a beautiful view of the lake are high!

Mt. Kineo

With an elevation of 1,789ft and its 700ft sheer cliffs dropping straight into the water, Mt. Kineo in Rockwood, Maine is an attraction you won't want to miss. Boat shuttles to the island can be found leaving the Rockwood boat launch every hour on the hour during peak season. Once on the island there is plenty to keep the whole family entertained, including a 9-hole golf course, biking, and hiking trails for the beginners and the experts, you'll quickly find yourself having a blast!

White Water Rafting

Contact the folks at Northeast Whitewater to set up your personalized rafting trip with a Registered Maine Guide on either the Kennebec or Penobscot Rivers. Hop aboard the historic steamship Katahdin and enjoy a shorter 3 hour tour approximately 12 miles up the lake, or go all in and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the northern part of the lake and Mt. Kineo on the longer 4 1/2 hour, 20 mile tour. Along the way, you will hear great stories of days gone by and you might even get a glimpse of Wilsons On Moosehead Lake from the water.
Also, while you’re in the area don’t forget to stop by and tour the Moosehead Marine Museum from 10am-4pm, Monday-Saturday. Some great history and photos can also be found at the Moosehead Historical Society and Community Center.
