Wilsons on Moosehead Lake reporting: Folks have been enjoying staying with us this spring and raving about the amazing fishing on both Moosehead Lake and the Kennebec River, too! You can also find ATV trails right at the end of our driveway, enjoy the surrounding nature and wildlife, numerous hiking trails, or just catch up on some much needed R & R.

We took on a huge project this past winter with redoing some electrical lines, removing some

overhead power, and installing a 30Kw generator! Since we’ve finished, we haven’t lost power…so many people have been thanking us for finally installing a generator big enough to run our little village of cabins. We’re happy to be prepared for any ice storms or accidents that may knock out power to the area!

Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for the most up-to-date progress and pictures on all the happenings here at the camps!

The transition is nearly complete. The fish are settling into their feeding slots from top to bottom on the River and the caddis are hatching! Water levels are a little on the low side, making for super smart fish that only take what they’re looking for.

A couple nights ago, there was a blizzard caddis hatch and the fish wanted hendricksons. Keep this in mind; what you see in the air is not always what the fish are looking for! The East Outlet has been blessed this year once again with larger than average fish and we have been capitalizing on that. This morning on the River I saw tan, dark brown, and green bodied caddis and the fish were crushing a green bodied wet fly. Think partridge and green! This could change, and will change hourly at this point and it is worth rifling through the fly box to find what the big fish are looking for. Give us a call to book your fly fishing adventure!

drift boats X3.jpgThe East Outlet is open all year for fly-fishing only! Water is being released from the Kennebec River and the flow is running at 1185 CFS. Walk right out of your cottage door over to the River for some of the best fly-fishing! For daily water releases, call 1-800-557-3569 with CODE: 235137, visit H2O Line, or give us a call at 1-207-695-2549 to make your reservation!

Open water fishing on Moosehead Lake, Maine opened for lake fishing May 1st. The Ice officially went out on May 8th, and the fishing improved shortly after! This last year of fishing on Moosehead Lake has been HOT. Guests have been reporting excellent lake fishing and they’re catching a lot of beautiful, fat fish!

We are now offering an amazing guided fishing trip to our venue: A great bass fishing adventure, go where few others have gone! We’ve also added another boat to our guide fleet to accommodate larger fishing groups!

FREE Wi-Fi!!! We have a broadband system offering wireless Internet to our guests and all of the cabins.  We upgraded the system, so it now reaches everyone staying here and is password protected!   We also have set up more cabins with satellite TVs.  The year round cabins (excluding our 2 smallest) along with Lakeside Cabin, now ALL have TV!  Never thought it would be that popular here in the North Maine Woods, but it has become that way…so we aim to please!

We have added a pontoon boat to our guide fleet for amazing sunset tours or private lake cruises with an experienced Registered Maine Guide. No security deposit needed, and gas is included! Folks who aren’t comfortable with boating can truly enjoying sitting back, relaxing, taking in the scenery and views while leaving the driving to us! This new adventure is sure to make some incredible memories with guests and our Guide Staff. It has already seen many evening sunset cruises to area islands, and some “fun in the sun” days on Moosehead Lake with guests enjoying the water, hiking Mt. Kineo, and learning some history on the way. Book early for summer, so you don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore Moosehead!

We have expanded our guide business and the East Outlet Guide & Fly Shop has been a great compliment to the office. Now selling flies, leaders, clothing, coffee, snacks and more, along with gas & oil for snowmobiles, boats and ATVs! We are here to offer assistance for those who need a little helping hand.  Come see us and check it out.

Four Seasons of Fun!

We have some new additions to our rental boats. We have added a junior kayak, more single kayaks, and two stand up paddle boards. SUP (or stand up paddle boarding) is growing into one of the greatest water sports. This is a low impact cardio exercise that strengthens your entire body while improving your balance. SUPs are great on lakes and the kids have been enjoying learning how to use them here in our cove on Moosehead Lake. For more information, go to our Boat Rentals page.

types of wildlife. The salt on the sides of the road in the winter pulls them out of the deep woods to where you can see them! Don’t forget your camera, there will be plenty of photo opportunities. Also, be cautious while driving because they’ll be out and about snacking on their treats.

Worried about those back roads and getting lost? Leave the driving to our experienced Registered Maine Guides so you can literally sit back and enjoy the trip! Interested in setting up a guided fishing adventure chasing these big fish or a jeep wildlife safari?
