Fall Hikes Near Moosehead Lake, Maine

When the weather turns to brisk evenings around a campfire and colorful days full of ochres, crimsons, and ambers,  you know the fall season is in full effect. When you stay with us at Wilsons on Moosehead Lake in our Maine lakefront rentals, one of the best activities is to get out and explore during the most beautiful seasons with a hike. It is a fantastic way to take in the views and experience the beauty of our home in it’s most colorful state.

Finding Fall Foliage

Fall Foliage is usually a highlight for most people every fall. Breathe in and smell the crisp autumn air and listen to the sounds of crunching leaves under your boots as you make your way through the painted forests. The Moosehead Lake and Greenville Junction area are located in thickly wooded mountains that create breathtaking views. You can find trails with lookouts that provide phenomenal vantage points out over the lake and valleys. Trails like Mt Kineo are fantastic for families and beginner hikers while The Moosehead Pinnacle Pursuit is excellent for hikers looking for a little more of a challenge.

Wonderful Water Experiences

While Moosehead Lake is the main draw of attention, there are exquisite waterfalls hidden throughout the local area that are picture perfect when lined with the falling leaves. Roughly forty-five minutes southwest of our Maine lakefront rentals is Moxie Falls. Easy trails make this gorgeous hideaway easily accessible for all ages and is perfect for a leaf looking adventure. Little Moose Mountain is a bit of a longer hike from the main trailhead but further west there are a few trailheads that make a shorter trek to reach the waterfall.
